What I’ve Been Doing In Quarantine

Being in the UK, and having underlying health issues, I have been in quarantine for 20 weeks now.

My main objective during this time, other than to stay as healthy as possible and homeschool my kids, was to use this time effectively and be productive.

So, now I’m nearing the time that I’ll be heading back to work I figured I’d share with you guys what I’ve been up to.

Improved my health

I have been trying to exercise regularly and eat better during this time. The result has been that I have reduced in overall size and weight, reduced my BMI and body fat percentage. I can also run further, sleep deeper and longer and fit into some clothes I was hanging onto for “when I lose weight”. Plus, for an added bonus, I don’t need to use my inhalers as much any more!

Workouts – I’ve been doing a mixture of dance cardio, yoga, couch to 5k and free weights.

Nutrition – rather than count calories, I’ve just been more mindful about what I’m eating and how much of it. Recently, I’ve started trying out intermittent fasting which also seems to be helping.

Spring Cleaned

I swapped bedroom with my two daughters and redecorated each bedroom. I also finished building a wall and door partition between my kitchen and living/dining room. I redecorated the kitchen, and also bought some new decor pieces. Oh, and I rearranged the furniture in my living/dining room.

Two Quarantine Birthdays

Both my youngest daughter and I had birthdays during this pandemic. As you can imagine, giving a 10 year old a great birthday without her friends was quite a challenge, but we pulled it off. We made and played games, ate her favourite foods, and generally did all the things she loves. Plus of course there was cake and presents.

For my birthday this year I decided to have a big self-care/pamper day, which was actually very nice and relaxing. Not the birthday I was thinking for this year, but still great.

Started a family tree

I’ve been using MyHeritage for this.

Paying off debts

I’ve cleared three and reduced the others.

Educating Myself

Using Alison, One Education and Oplex Careers I have achieved 3 certificates of completed courses and 2 diplomas (currently working on another two). Also, I’ve been using DuoLingo to improve my French so I can better help my daughters with thier homework. I’ve been updating my CV as I go, too.

Organised my digital space

Pictures, videos, documents, emails, apps, subscriptions, passwords, accounts. The whole shebang.
